Nancy
Callahan-Hyer, Director
Director of Music at Palma
Ceia Presbyterian Church, Nancy Callahan-Hyer serves as the
director of the Tampa Oratorio Singers.
She has conducted major
choral works with professional orchestras, including works by
Brahms, Fauré, Beethoven, Handel, Dvorak and Gounod.
With a
Masters Degree in Music from the University of South Carolina,
Nancy’s professional career is ever expanding. She is a past
Dean of the American Guild of Organists, a participant in the
Spoleto Festival in organ concert and choral conducting.
Nancy served as Director of Music at Hyde Park United Methodist
Church for 25 years, taking the Chancel Choir to London,
Florence, Vienna, and Paris. and she has conducted
European Choral performances in major cathedrals. |

Nancy
has three sons, Christopher, Miles, and Robert, two of whom are in
college and one in high school; her husband,
John L. Hyer, holds a Masters degree from Juilliard and is a
former operatic soloist. John is a member of TOS and frequently
provides a solo performance.
Nancy's
goals for TOS are to continue the traditions of the group as
Tampa’s oldest choral organization; to increase its
professionalism, musical integrity and repertoire; to provide
opportunities for the best vocal and instrumental musicians; and
to enable the group to play a major role in enhancing the cultural
profile of the Tampa Bay area.
